BOSSE (Board of Open Schooling and Skill Education) is a statutory open schooling board established by the Government of Sikkim under Act No. 14 of 2020, passed by the Sikkim Legislative Assembly on 21 September 2020. It is the open schooling equivalent of NIOS — recognised nationally — giving every Indian, regardless of age or background, the chance to complete their Secondary (10th) or Senior Secondary (12th) education entirely from home, at their own pace.
BOSSE certificates are recognised by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, AIU (Association of Indian Universities), COBSE, and NIOS. Valid for university admissions, government jobs, and competitive exams across India.
Students can attempt subjects individually and accumulate credits over multiple sessions. Two exam sessions per year (May–June and October–November). No need to pass all subjects in one attempt — study at your own pace.
BOSSE uniquely integrates vocational and skill-based subjects alongside core academic ones. Students can choose at least one vocational subject — making the certificate directly useful for employment as well as higher education.
Designed for school dropouts, working adults, homemakers, rural learners, and anyone who missed formal schooling. Minimum age for 10th: 14 years. No upper age limit. No attendance required. Study from anywhere in India.
BOSSE pass-outs are eligible to apply in all universities and colleges throughout India and abroad. After completing BOSSE 12th through GyanVatika, every degree programme on our portal — LLB, MBA, BCA, B.Tech and more — is open to you.
